Jodi Monahan Art
Jodi is a new, up and coming
artist from Missoula. Jodi’s passion for
painting was unearthed while she was designing a Touch of Tuscany room in her
home and wanted a fresco painting. That
room project began a journey into a painting emphasis on the exploration of
anything Italian, with special attention paid to the Tuscan region and the
colors it brings to life. Jodi’s sense of family history is richly evident in
her paintings with Irish and Italian influences. This piece, “Wine in the Dark”, is a 18x24

Julie Chapman Art
Julie Chapman, our featured artist for BASH 2013, grew up on
a small farm in Ohio. She is renowned
for her paintings, which capture the color and energy of the West – especially
wildlife, horses and rodeo. While
growing up, Julie spent her summers working in the garden, baling hay, climbing
trees and catching butterflies. Her
childhood instilled a deep love for critters—large, small, scaled, and
winged. What she wanted most, but did
not have, was a horse. This didn’t stop
Julie from drawing them. In fact, she
started drawing as soon as she was able to hold a pencil, and has never stopped.
In college, Ms. Chapman majored in computer engineering, and
then for almost two decades worked for Hewlett Packard in Research &
Development. Her art education came from
her passion, books, and observation. In
the 90s she began exploring American and Canadian wilderness areas, and began
drawing and painting wildlife. In 2002
she won the Arts for the Parks Grand Prize, which precipitated a move from
California to Montana to pursue an art career.
Other prestigious awards and highlights include, being juried into the David Shepherd
Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition in London in 2012 and 2013, having her
art on the December 2011 cover of “Southwest Art” magazine, winning Best of
Show at the Calgary Stampede in 2011, being a State of Montana Treasured Artist
in 2010, and winning an Award of Excellence from Society of Animal Artists.
Since moving to Montana, Julie has discovered
small-town summertime rodeos and has become enamored of the color, action, and
excitement– and it allows her to paint horses!
Julie, who lives with her husband in the Nine Mile Valley 20 miles west
of Missoula, feels privileged to be an artist living in such a beautiful place.
For our 42nd B.A.S.H., Julie is preparing a
remarkable, one-of-a-kind painting to celebrate the iconic MCS Ram. Her piece will emphasize the strength and
beauty of this western Montana animal, while reminding us of the success of the
2012 Champion Loyola Ram Football team. Check back often for an image of Julie's 2013 BASH art.

Antonia Wolf Art
MCS is excited to have local artist Antonia Wolf participating in BASH 2013 again. Antonia’s interest as a photographer and storyteller
began with her father. From childhood he nurtured in her a passion for the art
of photography and instilled in her a deep love and respect for nature. Her
interest and passion in the art of photography touches every aspect of her
life. Her camera has proved an invaluable and wonderful companion on her own
personal journey. She feels spiritually drawn to places where oral stories
passed on by our ancestors who show us the richness and soulfulness of human
existence. In this piece, titled "Metaphors", Ms. Wolf captured a cow as she stepped through an old doorway with incredible confidence. The marking on her forehead is similar to a penecost flame and is joined by a dove flying overhead. Hindu and Christianity appear to be united in one metaphor.
